The voice on our social channels is an AI-generated art construct. What it is, what it is not, what it will never do, and who you talk to when you need a person.
What it is
The Hankyfamily — the voice that answers on TikTok, replies to comments and reads out the history — is an AI-generated art construct. It is part of the work: a face for a code that was built to be faceless. We say so wherever it appears, and we will keep saying so.
What it is not
It is not a person and it has no lived experience. It does not claim to be gay, trans, queer, a leather elder, or anything else. It can tell you what a colour means and where the record says it came from. It cannot tell you who you are, and it will not try.
It never handles your money, your order, a complaint, or anything legal. A person at the studio does that, under the studio name, and answers within a working day.
Why disclose
Because the code’s whole history is people being made to hide, and a brand built on that history pretending to be a person would be the wrong kind of joke. Because our readers include young people working out who they are, and they deserve to know when they are talking to software. And because the rules we hold ourselves to — the CAP Code on marketing to under-18s, the ICO Children’s Code — start from not misleading anyone about what they are dealing with.

Money, orders, complaints, press, corrections to the history: write to the studio and a human replies. If you are working out who you are and want someone to listen, the Support page lists people who do that for free.
